South Africa was celebrating National Book Week from 6 to 10 September 2021. The Primary School of the DSK was participating with a special project week, celebrating our diverse and multicultural world in our books.

One of the special activities during this week was the Dress Up Day. All children dressed up as their favourite book character and they made a book donation instead of the usual “Civvies Day” R10. They either chose a second hand book from their own bookshelf or brought a new book. These books will be donated to a reading initiative in Cape Town.

The grade 5 English teachers and their learners also joined on Dress Up Day as their favourite book character and during the last lesson, gathered on the sports field where they played some fun games. Thereafter, some learners introduced their books and spoke about their favourite character.
